OUR STORY

My own journey into the world of pet cremation began under the heaviest of circumstances—losing my horse, Turbo, seven years too young. In the years that followed, I had to navigate that same painful process for three beloved cats and two dogs.

Through every one of those losses, a difficult pattern emerged. While the physical process of cremation was completed and my pets were returned to me, something crucial was always missing: my grief was never truly addressed.

I was exhausted by having to explain my situation to a different staff member every time I called with a simple question. There was a profound lack of empathy, and in the end, I felt like I was just another number—just another paycheck in a corporate system.

That experience stayed with me, and it is the entire reason Sage & Arlo exists today.

At Sage & Arlo, we know that saying goodbye to a beloved pet is one of the hardest things a family will ever do. In those moments of heavy grief, you don't need a cold, clinical process. You need warmth, clarity, and a consistent voice on the other end of the phone.

Founded by myself, Jessica, and supported by my partner Ross, we are a proudly local, family-operated service based right here in the Jimboomba area. We created this service because we believe that every pet deserves a dignified, gentle farewell, and every family deserves to feel completely supported and heard along the way.

Arlo is our three-year-old Samoyed and officially Ross’s shadow. He is, without a doubt, the happiest dog I have ever known in my life.

Despite having a pristine, fluffy white coat, his absolute favorite hobby is getting as dirty as possible, followed closely by eating absolutely anything he can get his paws on.

Carrots are the ultimate prize for Arlo. In fact, I once offered him a gourmet turkey neck as a special treat, and he flat-out sulked until I took it away and replaced it with a humble carrot!

When I am not supporting local families through Sage & Arlo, my life is completely, joyfully devoted to my own animals and my family.

My days are spent on our hobby farm, which I share with my partner, Ross, and our beautiful four-month-old son.

Our property is a wonderfully chaotic sanctuary, currently home to three horses, three cats, two parrots, seven very busy Sebastopol geese, and a single, highly independent chicken! Having a life so deeply intertwined with animals is exactly why I understand the profound bond we share with them, and it is the driving force behind the care I provide every single day.

Sage is my four-year-old Akita cross Staffy, and she is quite simply my "heart dog." I truly cannot imagine my world without her in it.

When she isn't busy keeping an eye on the farm, her absolute favorite hobbies include professional sniffer training and enthusiastically digging holes.

She is fiercely loyal, deeply loved, and a girl who knows exactly what she wants. For example, her favorite after-dinner snack is a crunchy carrot—though for full transparency, it must be noted that she only started eating them strictly to spite Arlo!
